Sowerby Bridge Town Festival

June 27 @ 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Kinaara : 18.00
Kinaara, meaning water’s edge, weave together strands of Punjabi and Celtic folk, Indian classical elements and a side order of psychedelia into an intoxicating whole. The Leeds group feature haunting vocals, fluid electric guitar and jazz drums to create a sound which is at once hypnotically groovy yet dynamic and subtly adventurous.
‘…you can hear Punjabi sounds– but there’s also folk, rock and jazz. Sometimes all at once’. Local Sound Focus
“Sensuous and alluring they have something unique to offer” – Roots World
“Kinaara are a terrific trio with musically rich songs” – Eastern Eye
Kushty Rye : 19.30
Folk rock renegade Des Horsfall has had a few skirmishes with fame over the years having played stages with the likes of Steve Earle, Pete Townsend and Slim Chance. With his band Kushty Rye he carries the torch for the late Ronnie Lane creating with good friends their own brand of raucous and good natured rustic rock and roll fun.
“Poignant and anthemic with an authentic laid back 1970s feel” Folking
“soulful and heart warming music that’s skilfully-executed, melodious and wise” – Whisperinandhollerin
Mora & The Fabulous Wonderfuls : 21.00
Born backstage, and raised by a VOX AC30, MORA was always destined to be a performer who makes the ground shake. With her band The Fabulous Wonderfuls she brings a unique blend of righteous anger and soul-lifting songs to channel the pain and rage of this crushing existence into a communal connection. This is impassioned soul stirring folk rock at it’s best with a powerful front woman who’s a star in the making.
“This is protest music which tugs at the heartstrings rather than calling to arms, and it would take a hard soul indeed not to be moved by Mora’s plaintive voice” – Louder than war
“A bewitching blend of soulful vocals and lively stage presence that would ignite any room from the first note to the curtain call.” -Arenaline
