Rose Villas
‘The band is made up of Alfie Hackett, vocals and rhythm guitar, Harry Cave, lead guitar, Charlie Pickens, bass, and Albie Shaw-White, drums. All aged 18, they’ve arrived at a sound that meshes the brooding intensity of alt-rock titans Radiohead with the subtleties and textures of shoegaze and psych. It’s a moody, alluring concoction, but it’s a sound that has taken them a little while to settle on.
They join a wave of exciting young bands and solo artists from Calderdale that started with The Orielles back in 2017.
Mal Campbell, Promotions Manager at The Trades Club, is already a keen admirer: “They look and sound like they’ve played 40 shows, but have only played four. They’re crackling with potential.”
George Daniels
‘Up and coming local folk hero. Winner of Heptonstall Festival’s 2025 Young Musician Competition. Down-to-earth and solid’
‘I am a folk musician and singer-songwriter from Heptonstall. Inspired by folk artists such as The Dubliners, Planxty, Crosby Stills and Nash and Tony Rice, I blend these influences with the raw energy of The Pogues and Jesse Welles. I love sharing real stories about real people and events through my own songs while also keeping folk traditions alive for a modern audience’
Calder Groove
Calder Groove is a Calderdale Youth Music Collective established in 2025 as part of Culturedale’s Youth Music Takeover programme. They exist to highlight and create opportunities for young people to get involved in the grassroots music scene in Calderdale and beyond. The core activity has been a series of ‘Do-It-Together’ Bootcamps, introducing 16 – 24 year olds to the venues, promoters, studios. technicians, organisations and artists in the borough, and a public programme of gigs, alldayers and ‘industry advice’ events.
