Little Sparrow
November 8 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Little Sparrow is singer/songwriter Katie Ware, a title that came from Elbow front man Guy Garvey, affectionately calling her ‘Cockney Sparrow’ it lead onto her stage name ‘Little Sparrow‘.
Drawing influences from the likes of Kate Bush, PJ Harvey and All About Eve, Little Sparrow’s music creates songs that are filled with a blend of styles, woven into the colourful tapestry of her music, often with a mysterious fairytale quality.
The critically acclaimed debut album ‘Wishing Tree’ released in 2014 had regular airplay on BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 as well as regular regional and international radio plays.
2020 saw the release of ‘Tears’, a song originally written by her father Mick Ware.
Her father enjoyed a successful music career back in the 70’s and was a huge influence on Katie’s songwriting when growing up. This included a home studio and recording with
her father regularly when only a little girl. Mick Ware enjoyed new fame in 2019 when Tyler the Creator sampled one of his songs ‘Today’ on a track ‘Puppet’ which featured on his album ‘Igor’.
Late 2021 saw the welcome return to live music, which Little Sparrow embraced. With sold out shows and a support slot with Eddi Reader, this encouraged Little Sparrow to put more live dates together in 2022.
She has supported Ian McCulloch (Echo and the Bunnymen) and most recently Mike Scott (The Waterboys) in May last year, 2023.
