Jazz Night with The Fergus Quill Quartet

Fergus Quill is a composer and Improviser based in Leeds. He has gained a huge reputation for original compositions and projects that reflect an eclectic spectrum of influences ranging from Sidney Bechet to Boredoms.
He is the founder of Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band, a band known for their relentless enthusiasm, membership of 20-30 musicians and a punk ethos, earning them a reputation for explosive live performances that drag big band music kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.
Throughout 2025, the band toured nationally, and highlights included sold-out performances at Ronnie Scott’s, The Vortex and Howard Assembly Rooms, as well as appearances at Love Supreme Festival and the London, Manchester and Leeds Jazz Festivals.
For his gig here at the Puzzle, Fergus is bringing a scaled-down quartet, and will be featuring compositions from across all of his projects.
Bagging him is a real nod to the special reputation that the Puzzle has gained.
