Folk Night with Satnam Galsian and floor spots
August 6 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Incoming LORE,Thurs 6 August at the Puzzle Hall Inn, #SowerbyBridge: SATNAM GALSIAN is a Leeds-based progressive folk singer who seamlessly and enchantingly blends the British and Hindustani traditions;
Having trained at Birmingham Conservatoire, Satnam’s agile, entrancing voice vaults above, and interweaves with hypnotic harmonium and shruti box drones – navigating a broad repertoire that flows from self-penned songs and movements, to the likes of Sadda Chiriya Da Chamba (We Are Like Birds), a Punjabi song traditionally sung during bridal preparations; her March 2026 single ‘Dishonour’ reworks the Irish standard ‘She Moved Through the Fair’ to explore honour-based abuse.
Both solo and with her trio Kinaara, Satnam has gigged extensively at the intersections of the UK folk and underground music scenes, and contributed to projects and productions stemming from BBC Radio 4 to Opera North.
This is an intimate opportunity to see one of the most vibrant, vital artists in the UK folk scene today. If the weather’s nice, we may even move proceedings to the Puzzle’s splendid garden!
As ever, this event is free entry, with a pay-what-you-feel collection to support the booked artists.
Each LORE also offers floor spots for local folk singers & musicians;
