Folk Night – Lore with Cat’s Cradle and Kit Knight

Date: Thursday, 2 March 2023
Time: 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Cat’s Cradle are an acoustic trio playing inventive, intricately constructed original tunes and songs, by turns rhythmically driving and gentle. Using mandolin, tenor banjo, bohdran and occasional voice, several traditions get woven in, from the UK to eastern Europe, prog and chamber music, all wetted down with a bit of northern rain. Mandolinist Geoff played on several Chumbawamba albums.

Sharing the night with them is Kit Knight, unaccompanied singer of traditional songs, whose debut release “From the knee” was described by Living Tradition Magazine as “probably the best CD I have heard in a very long time.” Kit co-runs Sunday Singaround, Manchester’s trad singing night, and has been singing his way round the UK and Ireland folk scene for a couple of decades. Kit is embracing a deeper and more resonant voice as he goes through transition.
