SUMMARY:Owter Zeds
DESCRIPTION:This is what ChatGPT has to say about Owter Zeds:\n\n\n“Owter Zeds is a term that refers to a type of clogs\, which were traditionally worn by workers in the mills and mines of Yorkshire and Lancashire in England. The term “Owter” is a dialect word for “outer\,” and “Zeds” refers to the letter “Z\,” which is the shape of the metal toe cap that was often added to the clogs for protection.\n\n\nOwter Zeds have become a symbol of working-class culture and history in the region\, and they are still made and worn today by some people for traditional folk dancing or as a fashion statement. There is also a folk music band called Owter Zeds\, which takes its name from the clogs and specializes in traditional music from the Yorkshire and Lancashire areas.”\n\n\nThat’s artificial intelligence for you…\n\n\n\nOr you could come and hear some top ska music!

SUMMARY:The Hazy Janes + Beach Head
DESCRIPTION:Local legends in the making The Hazy Janes are an exciting rock band from Halifax/York. Though you may know them as a dynamic duo they’re now a terrific trio Ellis and Bron having recently added bass player Andy Horrocks into the mix to help take their already powerful blues punk sound into a more gnarly and groovy garage rock direction. Championed by the likes of BBC Introducing and Planet Rock\, the Hazy Janes combine the energy and electricity of ‘60s rock and 00’s garage revival with the groove and attitude of blues legends like Freddie King and the feelgood fun of Dr Feelgood.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/thehazyjanes/\nhttps://www.instagram.com/thehazyjanes/\nhttps://www.youtube.com/@thehazyjanes8652\n“Delivering an electrifying live experience and a sound that’s both nostalgic and innovative\, The Hazy Janes are a must-see act” – In your ears music\n“A swashbuckling\, rifftastic\, sonic assault on the sense” – With just a hint of mayhem\n\nFormed in 2025\, Beach Head are a new rock band based in Leeds. Inspired by the best in punk\, grunge and stoner rock (Queens of the Stone Age\, Pixies\, Breeders) together they create an exciting and enervating sound full of passion and power but dripping with catchy melodies. They have a 6 track self titled EP out now to get your teeth into.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/beachheadrock/\nhttps://beachheadrock.bandcamp.com/album/beach-head-ep

SUMMARY:The Lores + Carps
DESCRIPTION:Remember the 90’s? The fashion. The haircuts. The vibe. And above all else: the music. A cavalcade of guitar-soaked pop that evoked the best of the 60’s\, laced with the party vibe of the Mediterranean and the acidic wit ofyouthful ambition. Oasis. Charlatans. Stone Roses. Blur. Pulp. Supergrass andmore. The sound of a tubthumping era. Now imagine that without the hair and you have…. The Lores. Six of the finest\, most handsome and musically skilful men that Yorkshire has to offer\, bringing the best of British indie directly to yourears. You know it makes sense.\nWith amazing support from Carps:\nIf you like bald\, paunchy men with an acoustic guitar and a bag full of hand crafted songs about sex\, death\, erectiledisfunction and growing updisgracefully\, then you’re in for a treat. Once described as a cross between Lennon\, McCartney and a Fray Bentos pie\, Carpenter is here to gently shake your tree with melodies and lyrics that he’s 75% certain he wrote himself\, stirring a hearty broth of folk\, pop\, rock\,psychedelia and indie.\nStep back into the 90s\, on the 3rd of October at Puzzle Hall

SUMMARY:Poetry & Spoken Word Evening
DESCRIPTION:On the fourth Tuesday of the month the music stops and we pay attention to the spoken word. There has been poetry at the Puzzle Hall since the Nineties\, with breaks when the pub was closed.\n\nSometimes we are a small seminar group bringing work we love\, and want to discuss\, including our own writings. If we get bigger numbers we can get out the microphone and make it an open mic. Everyone is welcome.\n\nThere are many kinds of poetry nights: poetry slams\, formal invited poets with an audience\, open mics\, spoken word events. We are often another kind of gathering: talking about poetry\, why we write\, what we read\, themes and differences.

SUMMARY:Jazz Extra with Led Bib
DESCRIPTION:Led Bib \nMark Holub\, drums \nLiron Donin\, bass \nChris Williams\, sax / effects \nPete Grogan\, sax \n  \nWe’re really\, really chuffed to announce that we’ve landed the magnificent Led Bib during their UK tour\, managing to snare one of only two gigs in the north. Oh\, yes\, be aware that the gig is on a Monday\, \nnot our usual Thursday. (I can’t wait\, Geoff) \nLed Bib are one of the UK’s most daring and acclaimed bands\, smashing through genre boundaries with a sound that fuses jazz\, rock and stabs of improve here and there\, into something entirely their own. \nFormed in 2003 by drummer and composer Mark Holub\, the group have released 11 albums\, toured internationally\, and picked up many major accolades – including a Mercury Prize nomination for their break-out record: \n“Sensible Shoes.” Led Bib have consistently earned critical acclaim for their restless creativity and explosive live shows. Over 22 years in\, Led Bib are still making music that’s impossible to pin down – and impossible to ignore. \n“Led Bib are back as a lean and mean four-piece for their first new album in several years. It’s a riotously melodic set\, with saxophonists Chris Williams and Pete Grogan going toe-to-toe with maverick drummer/bandleader Mark Holub and wildly creative bassist Liran Donan. While they “continue to make the world safe for dangerous music\,” the sound of the group has matured and become deeper and more melodic\, incorporating influences from other cultures and weaving them into their Motorik\, prog and punky DNA.” – JazzWise (UK) \n8.15 Free admission\, collection towards the band taken\, please be generous if you can.
