DESCRIPTION:Led by steel-pannist Dudley Nesbitt\, Panjumby are a five-piece band with a repertoire of Modern Jazz\, Contemporary Calypso and classic Latin tunes from Brazil\, Cuba\, Trinidad and Jamaica. A high-energy group of engaging and accessible performers\, \nNesbitt grew up in Trinidad and was a child prodigy on the steel pan\, eventually becoming a regular arranger for the prestigious annual Panorama competition at a very young age. \nHe has an extraordinary musical mind and is fully capable of composing a through-written piece of music for a pan orchestra of over a hundred players in his head\, teaching them all \ntheir parts from memory without recourse to scores or notes\, or of orchestrating pieces from the classical canon for the same size ensemble. \nHe is one of the world’s prime exponents of steel pan; one of the few musicians to truly translate steel pan techniques into a jazz context and to bring a group close to understanding the real \nunderpinnings of Calypso\, Soca & Trinidadian rhythm. \nThe present line-up has been steady for fifteen years\, and the musicians have developed the kind of instinctive rapport that most groups nowadays can only aspire to. \nThe band’s line up is: \nDudley Nesbitt\, steel pan\, cowbell \nRichard Ormrod\, sax\, flute\, percussion \nBarclay McKay\, keyboard\, guitar \nPaul Baxter\, bass \nSam Hobbs\, drums

DESCRIPTION:This August we Welcome Pete Dilley\nPete is a singer/songwriter from the North-East\, before absconding to Kendal\, Hebden Bridge\, and now Todmorden.\nWith a background in Classics and Heritage\, his songs are primarily based in the folk idiom\, and explore his passion for the natural world and history.\nHe plays guitar\, lap steel\, banjo\, and bouzouki\, and will have a bash at most other things too – violin is his latest venture! His latest album\, ‘Half-Truths and Hearsay’\, (2020) recorded in Kendal\, features an array of lakeland talent\, and has been praised by Steve Tilston and Martin Simpson.\nPete has opened for the likes of Ralph McTell\, Emily Barker and Marry Waterson\, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Dr Feelgood.\nHe is currently 1/4 of the band\, Living With Machines (with Alice Jones\, Simon Robinson and Katy Ryder) who released an an album of forgotten strike ballads after a commission between Leeds City Museum and the British Library. A passion project for 4 members with very different influences\, EPs Slightseeing (2021) and Iconic Bench Scenes (2022)\, quickly raised heads at Only a Northern One\, York Calling\, The Punk Head and many more for their unique blend of eccentric lyrics and catchy riffs.\nTheir most ambitious project to date is their upcoming debut album\, Cogs (releasing 15th August 2025). Focusing on the theme of AI consciousness\, it features wide mix of sounds reminiscent of Muse\, Radiohead and Pink Floyd. Powerful vocals star alongside ambitious arrangements contributions including a 22-piece choir and a historic pipe organ.
